General Anesthesia and Hospital Dentistry
During your child’s visit, Dr. Condit and Dr. Vollmar will make recommendations tailored to your child’s dental needs based on guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD). Some children may require dental care while asleep to facilitate a positive relationship with the dentist and allow safe and effective treatment.
With treatment under general anesthesia, either in the office or in the hospital setting, your child will be asleep during the procedure and closely monitored by a qualified anesthesia team. Pediatric dentists, Dr. Condit and Dr. Vollmar are credentialed with Spectrum Health Hospitals in Grand Rapids, including Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital and the South Pavilion Surgery Center. Your child will not feel any pain and there is a complete absence of any anxiety or fear during the procedure. Dr. Condit and Dr. Vollmar, Jenison pediatric dentists, will discuss this option after a careful review of your child’s medical and dental history. Our Jenison, MI dental team will work with you to determine if this is the most appropriate way to promote a safe and positive experience for your son or daughter. Should your child require dental care in a hospital setting, our team will provide you with all the information you need. Grand River Pediatric Dentistry is always happy to answer your questions regarding your child’s dental care.
